It has definitely been an eventful last week for the canvas crew alone with members being wrongfully arrested,  activities such as moon watching, spliff swelling and as of today datsun buying hotler. All shit aside, the canvas night has been released and were calling all peeps to get down and booogie on the 6th of August at Ruby Rabbit.. See i'm well aware of the fact that Melbourne pretty much pales in comparison to Sydney which leads me to seriously wonder why down south get to cruise into the sunset, over a sweet bridge, in their deliciously leather seated automobiles having a ciggie and listening to James Kane.

With a string of big internationals pushing through our fair city, more tracks on the horizon and most importantly a Canvas night kicking off very very soon my load seems to be blowing every five seconds. Lets keep in mind this isn't a premature issue, its just pure fucking excitement.

August 6th 2009 heralds the coming of Canvas. Created by us and pushed by us we will be taking up a monthly thursday night spot in Ruby Rabbit, Oxford St, Sydney. It will be jazz fidget fucking great and more. $5 entry, $5 drinks, free champagne handouts, free clothes, guys in bunny suits frothing at the mouth and maybe a seizure or two. Hey if the night goes that well ill throw down with pack of chimps.

sonic youth formed one day in 1981, when thurston moore and lee ranaldo took turns fucking up guitars with screwdrivers and chopsticks and shit and playing drums. kim gordon was there too and one day they got a drummer. 

that drummer was the creepy garage attendant who stole the ferrari in ferris bueller's day off. this is the number one reason to like sonic youth. for some reason he thought it would be a good idea to leave sonic youth after they released their first album to play full-time in another band.

anyway, cut to 2009 (that's now). these dudes are about to drop their 16th studio album under the sonic youth banner, or their 50th release including singles and all the other wacky shit they've done in their time.

sonic youth fucking rocks. sonic youth sound like i want to have a cigarette. isn't it a little bit late now to still be experimenting with guitars? because the now 51 year old thurston moore hasn't age since he was 24, i say no. seriously, look, it's fucking weird.

poison arrow is an almost pleasant one from their new album, the eternal.

kool thing is probably the most famous (i don't know if famous is a thing here) sonic youth song. it's pretty sick. you might like it.
